Vice President Shen Xin noted that China and Fiji are both members of the Global South. Over the past 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China-Fiji relations have achieved significant progress under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries. As good friends, partners, and brothers, the two countries have supported each other on issues of respective core interests and have established a comprehensive strategic partnership featuring mutual respect and common development, setting an example of equal treatment and friendly cooperation between countries of different sizes. China is committed to working with Fiji to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries through concrete actions, strengthen development cooperation, walk hand in hand on the path of modernization, build a China-Fiji community with a shared future, and jointly embrace an even brighter and more prosperous tomorrow for both nations.

Ambassador H.E. Robert Lee expressed that establishing diplomatic relations with China 50 years ago was one of the most important strategic decisions made by Fiji after its independence. Fiji firmly upholds the one-China principle. After half a century of development, the two countries have established a dynamic all-round strategic partnership. China is a steadfast development partner of Fiji, and Fiji appreciates the valuable support provided by the Chinese government over the years in areas such as infrastructure, capacity building, and disaster prevention and mitigation. As political relations between the two countries have developed rapidly, people-to-people exchanges have also played a crucial role as an emotional bond connecting the hearts and minds of the two peoples. Fiji is confident in the future of Fiji-China relations and looks forward to working with China in the spirit of mutual respect and win-win cooperation to jointly write a new chapter in bilateral relations.

Before the reception, Vice Chairperson Xian Hui met with Ambassador H.E. Robert Lee and exchanged views on China-Fiji relations and other issues of mutual concern.
